MIKI HARDER
Statement:
I am moved to create by the excitement and thrill I find in the natural world. I love trees. For me, they are deep stoic mysteries. I love birds. They are flying miracles. My college studies were in art and biology and it has been my life’s work to find a colorful marriage between the two. I desire to express both the silliness and the awe I find out there, and to honor the science that underlies it all. Paintbrush or clay in hand, it is my deepest desire to express and share the joy I find in the interplay of a connected natural world. My style evolves as I try to find the best way to convey silly, serious, micro, macro and the gorgeous underlying geometry of all things. I earned my Bachelor’s in Fine Art and Biology at Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado. My work centers on painting and bronze sculpture and expands from there to include welded sculpture, illustrations, tile mosaic, wall murals, and other renderings of whatever my current obsession is.
