Photographer Edward Weston said “The camera sees more than the eye, so why not make use of it?” There are many ways to visualize motion in a still photograph. Manipulating shutter speed with long exposures, especially at night, create new forms unseen in reality, or, it can completely freeze action otherwise too fast to follow. The act of panning the camera along with a moving object, or merely planting ourselves in the perfect location can all give us a tremendous feeling of movement. Since the invention of the medium, photographers have been capturing the speed of things in engaging ways. For this special Month of Photography event, show us you're Lost in Motion.
This exhibition will be featured in the Month of Photography show at Valkarie Gallery and receive widespread promotion.

Robert Newman spent his entire career in the Denver Public Schools, taking the original 16mm film program into the computer age with Digital Film Production. In teaching his high school students techniques of film and video production, DFP earned honors nationally and his graduates are now working on many levels in the entertainment industry. In 2011 Robert retired to aim his creative eye inward towards his passion for still photography. He enjoys the farm and ranch land east of his hometown Denver where the minimalist landscapes require a closer look with emphasis on form, motion, color and light. Remnants in abandoned places pique his curiosity, as do man's impact on nature. Robert became a resident artist at Valkarie Gallery in 2015.
